Overview

How each tool is described

IFS Ultimo

What is IFS Ultimo?

IFS Ultimo is a cloud-based enterprise asset management platform for industrial and asset-intensive organizations, combining maintenance management, asset records, spare-parts control, safety and operations processes, mobile field work, reporting, and lifecycle management.

  1. Maintenance and mobile work: teams can manage corrective and preventive work orders, inspections, equipment histories, spare parts, planning, condition information, and maintenance activities. Ultimo GO provides browser-based mobile working, while the Ultimo GO+ iOS and Android app adds offline operation for technicians working where connectivity is limited.
  2. Embedded maintenance AI: Ultimo’s purpose-built AI can improve failure reports, describe uploaded failure images, suggest completed activities, retrieve similar historical failures through vector search, draft work instructions, and convert unstructured instructions into structured inspection lines. Additional assistants can recommend corrective measures after HSE incidents and translate root-cause analysis findings into practical follow-up actions.
  3. Operations, safety, and connectivity: Ultimo extends beyond maintenance into EHS incident management, work permits, management of change, shift handovers, and asset lifecycle records. Premium and Enterprise support broader integration with systems such as ERP and supply-chain applications, with documented integrations including SAP S/4HANA. The Configuration Tool allows organizations to adapt workflows, fields, and dashboards without building a heavily customized application from scratch.
  4. Commercial considerations: Ultimo is sold as subscription-based SaaS with quote-based Professional, Premium, and Enterprise editions. Professional starts at five users with standard flexibility and DIY implementation; Premium starts at 10 users and adds greater configuration, integration, storage, implementation assistance, and support; Enterprise starts at 50 users with higher storage and 24/7 Platinum support. Embedded AI capabilities are separately presented through a request-for-quotation process.

IFS Ultimo is most relevant to organizations that want maintenance, operations, and safety processes in a configurable EAM system with mobile and embedded AI capabilities, while retaining the option to start with a more standardized deployment and expand as asset-management requirements mature.

Oracle Maintenance Cloud

What is Oracle Maintenance Cloud?

Oracle Maintenance Cloud, now marketed as Oracle Fusion Cloud Maintenance, is an enterprise asset maintenance application within Oracle Fusion Cloud SCM. It manages maintainable assets, preventive and corrective work, maintenance programs, work orders, materials, labor and equipment resources, meter readings, execution history, and maintenance costs.

  1. Preventive maintenance planning: Maintenance Programs generate preventive-maintenance forecasts using calendar patterns, day intervals, utilization meters, or competing calendar/meter and day/meter methods. Forecasted due dates can then create work orders automatically or manually. Condition-event-only requirements work differently: they are not forecasted, but instead create condition-based work when relevant equipment events occur.
  2. Connected and predictive maintenance: connected assets can send fault events and operational parameter values that Oracle evaluates through operational rules to create condition-based work orders. Newer functionality also accepts anomaly and failure-prediction events from connected equipment or third-party monitoring systems, allowing supervisors to review predictive signals and initiate inspections, work requests, or work orders before normal fault thresholds are reached. Oracle requires high-frequency time-series data to be analyzed externally and condensed into supported events before ingestion.
  3. Maintenance execution: work orders define assets, operations, dates, materials, resources, and required maintenance activities. Technicians can use the mobile-friendly My Maintenance Work interface to review assigned jobs and asset history, record operation completion, issue or return materials, report resource consumption and meter readings, attach photos and notes, and capture failure or quality information during execution.
  4. Oracle ecosystem: Maintenance shares asset information with Asset Lifecycle Management, item structures with Product Hub, material availability with Inventory Management, and work-order costing with Cost Management. Service Logistics extends maintenance to customer assets, field service, and depot repair, while current advanced scheduling can use Oracle Fusion Cloud Field Service to recommend technician assignments based on skills, availability, and scheduling constraints.

Oracle Fusion Cloud Maintenance is most relevant to organizations already standardized on Oracle Fusion that want asset records, maintenance execution, parts, costing, connected-equipment events, and service processes operating on the same enterprise data model.
