What is ThingWorx Asset Advisor?
ThingWorx Asset Advisor for Service is a role-based connected-service application built on PTC's ThingWorx industrial IoT platform. It gives service managers and technicians remote visibility into connected equipment so they can monitor operating condition, detect abnormal behavior, review alerts, and investigate problems before they result in additional downtime.
- Asset monitoring: Asset Advisor provides centralized views of connected assets, their status, monitored properties, alerts, and performance information. Condition-based alert rules can notify teams when equipment moves outside configured operating conditions, while ThingWorx anomaly detection can identify data behavior that differs from the expected pattern learned for a monitored property.
- Investigation workflow: Asset Advisor exposes equipment and monitored-property information, while the broader ThingWorx Apps environment includes Alert Monitoring and Trending and Troubleshooting. The latter lets users compare historical values for equipment properties or KEPServerEX tags over selectable time periods, helping technicians investigate the conditions surrounding an alert or performance change.
- Connectivity and implementation: Deployments depend on a ThingWorx asset model and reliable connections to the underlying equipment and data sources. ThingWorx supports industrial connectivity across sensors, PLCs, enterprise systems, edge devices, and technologies such as KEPServerEX, while application roles determine which monitoring and configuration functions individual users can access.
- Remote service: Remote Access and Control is an optional Asset Advisor capability rather than part of every deployment. With the required ThingWorx extensions and compatible edge configuration, authorized technicians can establish remote sessions and transfer files between ThingWorx and remote equipment, allowing some diagnostic or service work to be performed without an on-site visit.
ThingWorx Asset Advisor is most relevant to connected-service organizations that need ongoing visibility into equipment deployed at customer or remote locations. What is Bosch IoT Suite?
Bosch IoT Suite is a family of Bosch products and services for IoT device management, IoT data management, software distribution, and edge computing. Its current portfolio includes Bosch IoT Remote Manager, Bosch IoT Rollouts, Bosch IoT Insights, Bosch IoT Edge Agent, and Bosch IoT Edge Services, with several components built on or connected to Bosch-backed Eclipse open-source projects such as Kanto, Ditto, hawkBit, and Hono.
- Device operations: Bosch IoT Rollouts, whose open-source core is Eclipse hawkBit, manages software and firmware distribution from individual devices to large rollout campaigns with target groups, monitoring, repositories, and update history. Bosch IoT Remote Manager handles provisioning, configuration, monitoring, diagnostics, software management, and other fleet-management tasks and is available as dedicated SaaS or for on-premises/private-cloud deployment.
- Data and edge: Bosch IoT Insights ingests, processes, normalizes, enriches, stores, analyzes, and visualizes device data in a managed cloud service. Edge Agent provides MQTT cloud connectivity, local messaging, software updates, OCI container management, and local execution of analytics or machine-learning workloads, while Edge Services adds broader device-protocol connectivity, local rules, history, storage, and data transformation.
