Overview

How each tool is described

YouScan

What is YouScan?

YouScan is a social listening and consumer intelligence platform that analyzes online conversations across supported social networks, blogs, forums, review sites, and online news. It combines text-based monitoring with image recognition and conversational AI, allowing research, marketing, and brand teams to investigate both what people say and what appears visually in user-generated content.

  1. Conversation monitoring: Teams can track brands, competitors, products, campaigns, and broader topics using Boolean text queries, alerts, sentiment analysis, trend detection, dashboards, and reporting. YouScan can also collect visual mentions through logo recognition, text detected inside images, and recognition of relevant objects, scenes, or actions, extending monitoring beyond posts that explicitly mention a brand in written text.
  2. Visual intelligence: Visual Insights applies machine learning to images to identify logos, objects, scenes, people, and activities. This helps teams examine how products appear in real-world contexts, discover visual brand exposure that text queries may miss, evaluate user-generated campaign content, and identify patterns in how consumers interact with brands and products.
  3. AI-assisted analysis: Insights Copilot is a conversational AI agent that works with YouScan's collected social data. Users can ask natural-language questions about issues such as customer complaints, sentiment, audience characteristics, recurring themes, trends, and unmet needs; Copilot can perform qualitative and quantitative analysis on up to 5,000 mentions per request and show how many mentions support an insight.
  4. Plans and usage: The current Starter 3 plan costs $499 per month when billed annually and includes three monitoring topics, up to 15,000 monthly mentions, unlimited users, alerts and Social Searches, plus 10 Insights Copilot questions per month. Larger custom Unlimited plans add unlimited sampled mentions, Visual Insights, Audience Insights, unlimited Copilot questions, API access, unlimited custom dashboards, and broader configuration for brands and agencies.

YouScan is most relevant to organizations that need consumer and brand intelligence from both written conversations and visual social content. Its value depends on monitoring scope, required mention volume, visual-analysis needs, and whether the resulting insights materially improve brand, market-research, customer-experience, or communications decisions.

Mention

What is Mention?

Mention is a social listening and media monitoring platform, now owned by Agorapulse, that tracks conversations about brands, competitors, people, and topics across social networks, news sites, blogs, forums, review sites, and the wider web. It remains available to existing Mention customers, but it is no longer sold as a standalone product to new customers.

  1. Monitoring and search: Mention Alerts continuously collect relevant online conversations using keywords and, with Advanced Alerts, detailed Boolean queries covering operators such as AND, OR, exclusions, proximity, language, country, source, and reach. Historical Data can retrieve up to two years of prior mentions for supported sources, although access depends on the alert type and subscription.
  2. Listening analytics: Reports analyze metrics including mention volume, estimated reach, sentiment, sources, locations, influencers, conversation peaks, and share of voice. Comparative reporting allows teams to benchmark brands or competitors, while scheduled reports and exports support recurring campaign, reputation, and market analysis.
  3. Alerts and data workflows: Spike notifications flag unusual increases in mention volume, while instant notifications and digests help teams follow developing conversations. Workspaces, permissions, shared Alerts and Reports, public or scheduled reports, CSV/PDF exports, a monitoring API, Slack, and Zapier integrations provide ways to distribute listening data across a wider organization.
  4. Current product status: Agorapulse acquired Mention in 2025. Mention retired its Publish & Respond social publishing and engagement features on January 30, 2026, and as of July 1, 2026 it is no longer available as a standalone purchase for new customers. Existing customers can retain their Mention plans, while Agorapulse Listening is positioned as the next-generation option for new social-listening deployments.

Mention remains relevant to existing customers using it for brand intelligence, reputation monitoring, competitive research, campaign analysis, and crisis detection. New buyers should evaluate Agorapulse Listening instead, with suitability depending on required source coverage, historical-data depth, competitive analysis, reporting, and integration needs.
