Overview
What is Mention?
Mention is a social listening and media monitoring platform, now owned by Agorapulse, that tracks conversations about brands, competitors, people, and topics across social networks, news sites, blogs, forums, review sites, and the wider web. It remains available to existing Mention customers, but it is no longer sold as a standalone product to new customers.
- Monitoring and search: Mention Alerts continuously collect relevant online conversations using keywords and, with Advanced Alerts, detailed Boolean queries covering operators such as AND, OR, exclusions, proximity, language, country, source, and reach. Historical Data can retrieve up to two years of prior mentions for supported sources, although access depends on the alert type and subscription.
- Listening analytics: Reports analyze metrics including mention volume, estimated reach, sentiment, sources, locations, influencers, conversation peaks, and share of voice. Comparative reporting allows teams to benchmark brands or competitors, while scheduled reports and exports support recurring campaign, reputation, and market analysis.
- Alerts and data workflows: Spike notifications flag unusual increases in mention volume, while instant notifications and digests help teams follow developing conversations. Workspaces, permissions, shared Alerts and Reports, public or scheduled reports, CSV/PDF exports, a monitoring API, Slack, and Zapier integrations provide ways to distribute listening data across a wider organization.
- Current product status: Agorapulse acquired Mention in 2025. Mention retired its Publish & Respond social publishing and engagement features on January 30, 2026, and as of July 1, 2026 it is no longer available as a standalone purchase for new customers. Existing customers can retain their Mention plans, while Agorapulse Listening is positioned as the next-generation option for new social-listening deployments.
Mention remains relevant to existing customers using it for brand intelligence, reputation monitoring, competitive research, campaign analysis, and crisis detection. New buyers should evaluate Agorapulse Listening instead, with suitability depending on required source coverage, historical-data depth, competitive analysis, reporting, and integration needs.
