Snowflake

Snowflake is a fully managed cloud data and AI platform for ingesting, processing, analyzing, modeling, sharing, and building applications across structured, semi-structured, and unstructured enterprise data. It supports analytics, data engineering, AI/ML, transactional workloads, and application development within a governed platform.

1. Data platform: teams can run analytics, data engineering, application, and machine learning workloads while scaling compute independently from storage. Snowflake accounts can run on AWS, Microsoft Azure, or Google Cloud, with security and governance applied across supported workloads and data types.
2. AI capabilities: Snowflake Cortex includes managed capabilities for LLM-powered analysis, natural-language-to-SQL through Cortex Analyst, Cortex Search for unstructured information, multimodal processing, and Cortex Agents that can reason across structured and unstructured enterprise data.
3. Collaboration model: Secure Data Sharing lets organizations provide live, read-only access to selected data without copying or transferring the underlying data between Snowflake accounts. Snowflake Marketplace listings build on the same sharing architecture to distribute data products across organizations, clouds, and regions.
4. Commercial considerations: Snowflake uses consumption-based pricing across Standard, Enterprise, Business Critical, and Virtual Private Snowflake (VPS) editions. Most compute uses Platform Credits, while eligible AI services such as Cortex Agents, Cortex Search, AI Functions, and Cortex REST APIs now consume separate AI Credits under Snowflake's AI pricing model.
